Filing Insurance Claims
The claims process cannot start until you have first filed with your Insurance Company, but preparing the necessary material on your own for your claim can be hard and time-consuming. You don’t have to handle it alone. The public adjusters at D.C. Hogan & Associates are here to guide you every step of the way.
Getting your claim in as soon as possible is especially important after major incidents like a hurricane or flood when your company will be dealing with a large volume of claims. From the first day of your loss, we will contact your Insurance Company and file your claim.
We will then carefully review your policy and all its provisions to address the full scope of your loss. With our team of experts, we will inspect, document, and photograph all your property loss. We’ll take care of meeting with your Insurance Company’s Adjuster on-site to ensure your Insurance Company receives the most complete damage model of your loss. You can count on us to meet with the Insurance Company’s Claims Adjuster to reach an agreement on scope of loss and negotiate for your full, fair, and timely recovery settlement.

Insurance companies are notorious for dragging out the claims process and being difficult to deal with. With our Supplemental Claim Services, our team of licensed public adjusters are ready and able to help you at any point in the insurance claims process, even after you’ve already filed and settled with the insurance company.

Insurance companies typically provide a Content Inventory Form and leave the rest to the policyholder. It’s important to remember that the burden of Proof of Loss lies with you, NOT your Insurance Company. Filling out forms and creating a complete contents report for your Insurance Company can be confusing and daunting if you’ve never done one, but our public adjusters will help to make this process as stress-free as possible.
We have the knowledge resources to calculate your replacement and/or restoration cost for your affected business or personal property. We also use the latest software to handle itemizing your affected contents. Our detailed damage report will address everything in your policy coverage and outline the repair costs accurately and fairly.

Appraiser
With Insurance Claim’s, it’s hard to get both sides to agree on a dollar amount. The Company Adjuster wants to set the price to minimize the company’s losses while you, the policyholder, want the payout you deserve. If your policy includes a “Demand of Appraisal” clause, which states in the policy that if both you and the Insurance Company fail to agree on the amount of loss and if the amount of loss is more than $500.00, either party may “Demand Appraisal.”
This Appraisal process exists as a means of settling your claim without having to take it to court. Each party must hire their own Appraiser and bear their expense.
As yours, we will impartially and independently evaluate the amount of your loss and negotiated for a fair settlement.
Umpire
During the Appraisal process, a third neutral person, the Umpire, acts as mediator if the two Appraisers still can’t reach an agreement on the amount of your loss. A certified Umpire, such as the ones at D.C. Hogan & Associates, may be recommended by your Appraiser and will be paid equally by the policyholder and the insurance company in order to stay neutral in deciding which of the two Appraiser values to accept. This value is then binding in your settlement.
We represent YOU, the insured, only.
